My name is Kerry Sarhanis. I am a qualified British Wheel of Yoga(BWY) teacher. I am fully insured. The BWY is the governing body for Yoga in England and a member of the sports council. I have also undertaken further training for teaching yoga, breathing practices and a deep relaxation practice called yoga nidra to people with cancer and other life changing illnesses. I have been practicing yoga for fifteen years. I have been teaching in Rickmansworth and Watford for the last nine years. I teach four classes a week at present. I also teach small private groups and one to one for yoga and relaxation and meditation.
Everyone works with the postures to their own level and modifications are offered to suit the individual. The classes are one and a half hours long and include asana (posture work), breathing practices,relaxation and some simple meditation techniques. My yoga classes are usually mixed ability, with everyone working to their own ability. The chair yoga class is one hour.
Yoga is a spiritual practice in that it brings awareness of your body and breath working in union. On the simplest level it is a good way to relax and unwind and discover what your body is capable of. It helps you become more flexible, stronger and aware of the power of your breath. It also aids relaxation and helps people with sleep problems. It can help with anxiety and stress disorders.
